This Is Melbourne's Coldest October Weekend In A BLOODY Long Time

Get stuffed.

Melbourne's weather has stunk it right up this weekend.

Yesterday we were pelted by rain, hail and wind - and occasionally sunshine, weirdly - in what was a treacherous day, with the mercury tipping out at 13.2 degrees.

Today has been better, but it's still been bloody cold, reaching a max of just 14.1.

As it turns out, Melbourne hasn't had an October weekend this freezing in over 50 years.

You heard it - fifty years.

Not since October 1 and 2, 1966 has Melbourne shivered through conditions like these.

Melbourne had a maximum of 14.4 degrees on that first Saturday of October 1966, and a freezing 11.7 on the Sunday.

This weekend will also go down as the 11th coldest October weekend we've ever had.

The worst? All the way back in October 1923, when we froze through two days of 10.4 and 14 degrees.

Nope. No thanks.
