Police have charged two men with grievous bodily harm following an incident in Cairns City early this morning.
It will be alleged that around 3am, two men have approached a 29-year-old man on Shields Street and punched him a number of times, knocking him unconscious.
The two men continued to strike the 29-year-old in the head before fleeing the scene on foot.
Police arrested the men on Grafton Street moments later, and they were taken into custody.
The 29-year-old suffered a broken nose and suspected fractured eye socket. He was transported to the Cairns Base Hospital for treatment.
A 52-year-old Torbanlea man and a 40-year-old Clifton View man have been charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm. They are both due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on May 22nd.
