Sotheby's

INXS fans who have a spare bit of coin might want to be available on March 21...

That's the date Sotheby's will host an auction, selling many of the instruments Kirk Pengilly has accumulated over his 40 plus year career with the legendary Aussie band.

The auction - estimated to be worth between $159K to almost $230K, will feature various items that Kirk either used or collected during the vast recording career of INXS, with items on offer that were reportedly used in iconic INXS albums such as The Swing, Listen Like Thieves, X and Welcome To Wherever You Are.

Oh yes, and their multi-platinum worldwide smash... Kick.

We did a quick poll with the musos around the office, and the instrument of choice seems to be the 1964 Fender L-Series Stratocaster.

Kirk's quoted as suggesting it was his fave from the collection:

"This is my favourite guitar in the collection, I used it on various recordings from the 'X' album onwards. A truly great sounding instrument."

- Kirk Pengilly

It's estimated at $35,000-$45,000. So probably out of reach for most of us.
