It's a sobering thought... but 30 years ago today, arguably one of the mighty INXS's best ever songs, Never Tear Us Apart, was released onto the world...

And man, did it leave its mark.

We did some searching and found this... a version three members from the band recorded for MTV's Most Wanted way back in 1994.

It's spine-tinglingly good.

Of course, the song has a sad place in INXS's history... it was the song played as the late great Michael Hutchence was carried out of his funeral by his band mates and brother Rhett.

And for those who don't know, the band re-recorded a version of the song with Ben Harper and Mylène Farmer, which is beautifully, orchestrally, rich and lush.

And, for anyone truly into this song, the band released an alternative version of Never Tear Us Apart as part of their 25th anniversary re-release of Kick. It's got a whole lot of soul and from what we understand, was more indicative of the original plans for the song before the decision was made to go down the 'orchestral' path.

Either way, the song's a classic and will forever be associated with one of Aussie's best!
