35 years ago today, Melbourne played host to one of the all time great Aussie concert lineups... and all to fight a cause that's as relevant right now, as it was back then.

The concert was called Stop The Drop; headlined by the mighty Midnight Oil and supported by the one and only INXS, in mighty fine form.

There was also Colin Hay (Men At Work), Goanna and Redgum... to name but a few.

Stop The Drop was held at the Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne on Feb 13, 1983, and was put together to bring awareness to the growing dissent amongst Aussies at the thought of a nuclear war between major players on the world scene (namely USA and Russia).

Of course, all the performances are great, but we loved watching two Aussie bands in particular who were building towards the brink of world superstardom.

INXS were on fire... with ripping versions of Black And White, Stay Young and To Look At You.

And Midnight Oil were, well, Midnight Oil. There's something quite special about a packed house singing the words to US Forces at a protest gig about US Forces.

Absolutely on fire!

The sad thing is that, 35 long years later, this gig is as relevant now as it was back then.
