Legendary rock musician Eric Clapton has revealed he is going deaf.

The 72-year-old joined BBC Radio 2's Steve Wright in the Afternoon to talk about his new documentary, and revealed he is struggling with his hearing.

“You know the only thing I’m concerned with now is being in my 70s and being able to be proficient," he said.

"I mean, I’m going deaf, I’ve got tinnitus, my hands just about work."

The singer recently told Rolling Stone about the issues with his hands, with a bout of eczema so severe "the palms of my hand were coming off".

"It was a catastrophe," he said.

"I had to wear mittens with Band-Aids around the hands and played a lot of slide [guitar] as a result."

It won't stop him from performing, with the rock legend doing a show in London in July.

"I mean, I'm hoping that people will come along and see me just because, or maybe more than because I'm a curiosity. It's amazing to myself that I'm still here," he told BBC.

“I’m still going to work, I’m doing a few gigs, I’m doing a show in Hyde Park in July.
