Melbourne music lovers were rocked yesterday following the news iconic venue, Festival Hall was up for sale (read here).

The venue, that has hosted gigs such as Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Beatles is a staple in the Australian live music community, homing iconic gigs and unforgettable, live music experiences.

Triple M’s Wil Anderson reminisces of the venue.

Reported by Abc, venue director Chris Wren said the decision to sell is based on it being “no longer profitable to run the venue”.

John Wren, who’s been running the venue for over 50 years said; “It is hard but it’s a fact that we’ve got to move on, and we’ve made our decision”.

Melbourne fans are in mourning over the news, with a petition clocking over 300 signatures in a day to help save the venue.
