The music world was in shock when last month Crowded House’s Neil Finn shared the news he was joining Fleetwood Mac (read more here) and now the new look band have broken their silence.

In the classic rock band’s first interview with the new line up including Finn and Tom Petty’s Mike Campbell, the band address the departure of key member Lindsey Buckingham.

The band confirmed Buckingham was booted from the band due to scheduling conflicts, with Stevie Nicks saying in the interview reported by Rolling Stone:
“We were supposed to go into rehearsal in June and he wanted to put it off until November 2019.. Why would we stop? We don’t want to stop playing music. We don’t have anything else to do. This is what we do”.

The Mac has been dramatic from the start, with multiple departures throughout the band began in the late 60s.

With Buckingham out of the way, Nicks is looking forward to playing songs live that he wouldn’t want to play saying;
“Now we’re able to open the set with a lot; a raucous version of ‘Rattlesnake Shake’ or something. I’d also like to do ‘Station Man,’ which has always been one of may favourites. We’re definitely doing ‘Oh Well.’”

Talking to Finn on his new role he said;
“I was stunned when I got the call from Mick. I was enjoying my life and my music, but I have a restless nature and now I’m relishing this beautiful gift that’s been given to me.”

The band start rehearsals new month for the huge North American tour that kicks off in October, Nicks says they won’t be cutting the hits from the set.
