Fleetwood Mac have fired key member and songwriter Lindsey Buckingham.

Buckingham has been given the sack from The Mac due to conflicts with the tour schedule. The news has been confirmed by Variety Magazine.

Replacing Buckingham is Neil Finn and The Heartbreakers lead guitarist Mike Campbell.

Finn confirmed this news via twitter:

Post

The news has shocked and confused fans given the band have been touring with the original line up Stevie Nicks, John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and Christine McVie.

Neil just wrapped up an intimate tour of theatres of NZ and Australia, with his musician son Liam Finn which they played some new songs together, begging the rumour of a new album together which would be their first album together.

Drama has been a solid theme for The Mac, but given they’ve been doing it for over 50 years you think they’d be tired of it. Saying that, we have no doubt Finns harmonies and guitar skills will fit in with the band.

New tour dates are due to be announced in the coming days.
