Flight of the Conchords have dropped a brand new track, performing Father and Son live on US TV on Monday night.

The New Zealand comedy duo appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote their upcoming HBO special Flight of the Conchords: Live at the London Apollo, which airs October 6.

An acoustic duet revolving around "a guy and his little guy", Father and Son is classic Conchords: a little sad, a little silly, a lot catchy.

Almost as amazing as their performance was their interview; when asked how fame had changed the pair's lives, Jemaine Clements replied: "That old horse, fame. That's a wild beast, isn't it? It can take you on a nice ride, it can buck you off."

Bandmate Bret McKenzie also chipped in with some trivia about New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ahern's official abode.

"It is a state house," he said. "It used to be a preschool. And my brother went there for preschool. And then they turned it into the prime minister's house.

"They've updated the furniture."
