Legendary British pop icon George Michael has passed away at the age of 53.
His publicist said that the ex-Wham singer “passed away peacefully at home” on Christmas Day.
Thames Valley Police said that an ambulance attended a property in Goring, Oxfordshire, west of London at 13:42 GMT.
Police say there were no suspicious circumstances.
"It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period," the singer's publicist said in a statement.
"The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage."
Michael, born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou in London, sold more than 100m albums throughout a 35-year career.
He first found fame with Andrew Ridgeley in duo Wham! before going on to release popular and critically acclaimed solo albums.
