Green Day has been collecting massive amounts of gear over the last 30 years, and now you can own some of it.

They're partnering with Reverb to sell off all sorts of old gear, from Billie Joe Armstrong's favourite guitars to amps and pro audio equipment.

"After 30 years of collecting odds and ends and really good stuff, what happens is I get too many," Armstrong said.

"So we gotta sell some of this off. Some of it I've used, some of it's sat there in pristine condition."

The sale includes the amp used to record the intro to American Idiot, as well as three of Armstrong's favourite Gibson Les Paul Juniors.

"I've got way too many of them," he said.

"I just love that guitar. They're so f**king cool, man."

The sale kicks off on Reverb on Wednesday December 20, US time.
