Bloody legend!

Jimmy Barnes Given Australia Day Honour

Aussie rock icon Jimmy Barnes has been made an Officer of the Order of Australia in today’s Australia Days honours.

Barnesy joined other Aussie luminaries including Nick Cave and Paul Kelly in accepting the award today.

“I’m an immigrant so to come here and receive this is very shocking and I’m really happy and really humbled,” Barnesy told AAP.

He came to Adelaide from Glasgow in Scotland at the age of five and went on to notch up more number one albums — 10 — than any other Aussie artist.

Barnsey famously fronted rock legends Cold Chisel and has also released several solo albums.

He took to Twitter to dish out some heartfelt thanks to his adopted country — and to make a point about immigrants:

Good on ya Barnesy you bloody legend!
