The "monkey bike" John Lennon used to get around his English country estate will be put up for sale in the coming months, with experts estimating it will go for at least $50,000.

Lennon owned the Honda Monkey-Trail Bike XUC 91H between 1969 and 1971, zipping around his Tittenhurst Park estate in Surrey on the red-and-black machine.

The Beatle then sold it on to Henry Graham in 1971 who, in turn, passed it on to current owner John Harington just months later.

Harington, who has displayed the bike at a number of events and shows over the last 47 years, is now selling up through H&H Classics, the company confirmed.

"Naturally we are thrilled to be entrusted with the marketing and sale of this bike, given it's extraordinary provenance," Mark Bryan, Head of Sales for H&H Classics Motorcycle Department, said.

The bike will be made available for sale on March 4 at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull.
