Axl, Slash and Duff... touring for the first time in 23 years... yeah, you could say this was a special gig for Gunners fans.

Tens of thousands of diehard fans (many there who witnessed them at Eastern Creek and even the infamous Entertainment Centre gig) and some new ones as well (there were a lot of young kids in the audience) swarmed ANZ Stadium at Homebush to witness this little piece of rock history.

And LA's hardest band didn't disappoint.

They opened with the Appetite For Destruction classics "It's So Easy" and "Mr Brownstone" before sliding into Axl's moody beast of a song, "Chinese Democracy".

The band was on fire, pumping on all cylinders, and much tighter than back in the day. They looked fit, healthy and Axl's voice was in really good shape.

You could see how much fun old buddies Slash and Duff were having on stage playing these songs again, drawing loud cheers from the crowd every time they played side-by-side on the massive stage.

Highlights were a brooding extended version of "Rocket Queen", "Civil War" reached epic heights, "Double Talkin' Jive" was f***ing heavy, and "Sweet Child O' Mine" shook the stadium's foundations. We're pretty sure that riff has taken over Deep Purple's "Smoke On The Water" as the most recognisable riff of all time.

Then it happened... the rumours had been swirling for 24-hours but no-one believed it would actually come true. Axl introduced AC/DC legend Angus Young, who joined the band on stage for two Acca Dacca songs - "Whole Lotta Rosie" and "Riff Raff".

"Whole Lotta Rosie" has been a part of GN'R's set since they started but to see them play it with Angus was a real treat. Angus appeared in the un-rock n roll attire of white t-shirt tucked into his jeans, but he went wild, with the solo at the end of "Riff Raff" sending chills up your spine.

"Riff Raff" was loose, but "Whole Lotta Rosie" was muscular and powerful, and not as punky as when GN'R do it on their own. Watch the video below.

The band smashed the end of the set with two crowd favourites from Appetite - "Nightrain" and "Paradise City" - sending the crowd home with guitar solos running through their head.

Thank you to Guns N' Roses and all the fans that came out to make this a special night. Next stop Melbourne.
