It’s only taken 40 years but Paul Kelly is finally getting the recognition he deserves.

The Aussie singer songwriter has taken out Song Of The Year at this year’s APRA music awards.

The awards celebrate the best songwriters in the country and Kelly’s 2017 single Firewood and Candles has taken out the main gong.

Other winners include Home Grown artists Busby Marou, Birds Of Tokyo and Amy Shark.

Firewood and Candles is the lead single from Kelly’s 23rd studio album and first #1 album, Life Is Fine.

Kelly cleaned up at the 2017 ARIA awards with this new release (read more here) and the album was the highest seller for in Australia for 2017 (read more here).
