Long time manager of Tom Petty, Tony Dimitriades has released a heartfelt statement following the American singer songwriters death.

The announcement shared on the official Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Facebook page states in the devastating announcement Tom Petty:

“suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu in the early hours of this morning (US time) and was taken to UCLA but could not be revived”.

He was surrounded by family, his bandmates and friends.
