For music fans both here in Australia and across the globe, November 22nd marks a sad, sad day... the day the late great Michael Hutchence passed away in a Sydney hotel room.

At just 37 years old, he was taken way too soon. To this day, for many it's still a shocking reality that the great man isn't still out there, fronting the mighty INXS and rocking all corners of the world, as they did for so many years.

The band took to Facebook today to acknowledge just how much he is missed.

To us at mix94.5, Michael Hutchence was more than just a man. He was a bona fide rock star poet, the kind of bloke that women wanted and men wanted to be like. The many Facebook pages dedicated to the great man, pages from all over the world, put paid to just how universally he was loved, not only in death but in life.

Once again, we've chosen to play some stuff on-air to commemorate the sad occasion of his death, this year being 21 years since he checked out. Our very own Jane Gazzo hosted Michael's sister Tina Hutchence on the man she watched grow up from a shy, whisper-quiet teenage kid into the rock god we all knew and love.

It's a must-listen for fans of the band, the man, and everything in between.

We thought about how else we could celebrate the man and, after a little bit of Youtubing (it's for work, honestly boss), we found that Hutchence had recorded an impressive array of covers both as a solo and with INXS.

We picked out 5 of our faves... see if you agree.

5. Michael Hutchence - Red Hill

You probably haven't heard of Chage and Aska, but ask anyone in Japan, and there's a fair chance they own one of the 31 millions albums or singles sold by this huge Japanese duo. Hutchence did a rip snorting cover of their 1993 hit, Red Hill.

4. Michael Hutchence - Baby Let's Play House

In 1994, an Elvis tribute album called It's Now Or Never was released, and our own Michael Hutchence was asked to contribute... he didn't disappoint.

3. INXS - Get It On (Bang A Gong)

T. Rex done right, with a little french influence from Zazie.

2. Michael Hutchence - The Passenger

This is a slowed down, gritty version of Iggy Pop's famous song... produced in the mid '90s, we don't know how this didn't do better on the charts.

1. INXS and Jimmy Barnes - Good Times

Two of Aussies' absolute finest doing a song written by two more of Aussies' finest! Doesn't get much better than that!

Wherever you are Hutch, RIP!
