Model and icon of the 60s Boyd inspired some of the greatest tunes in rock history; most famously, Harrison wrote for her Something, and I Need You and Clapton wrote Layla, and once they were married, Wonderful Tonight.

She's touring Australia, telling her stories and we sent Triple M's Becko along for a night with Pattie Boyd:

Pattie Boyd, Model, Muse, photographer, wife of George Harrison, wife of Eric Clapton…

She inspired Eric’s song “Layla”, George’s songs “If I needed Someone” and “Something”

The biggest surprise on meeting Pattie, was how much a talented photographer she is. It’s not just the behind the scenes social shots with George or Ringo or Eric…. But her rock photography is exceptional. This is decades before digital cameras, where you can take a thousand shots and hope one sticks. She has an eye for it…

A highlight from her exhibition at Blender Gallery in Sydney was her polaroid photos. She has shoe boxes full of old photos from her days hanging out with the Beatles, and it’s an absolute treat to experience these moments. Also the polaroids mounted and framed on a wall, draw you in…. it just works.

What a highlight…

Sydney can see her photographic exhibition throughout May.

Melbourne, you can spend an evening with her, Wednesday 16th May.
