The future of the Australian version of the iconic music magazine Rolling Stone is under a cloud after the announcement that the publishers are going into liquidation.

The company that holds the publishing rights in Aus, Paper Riot, went into liquidation on Wednesday this week.

Rolling Stone Australia editor, Matthew Coyte, released a statement about the development.

“Paper Riot is in liquidation and will no longer be publishing Rolling Stone in Australia.

“The license has reverted back to the owner, Rolling Stone International,” the statement said.

“I can’t tell you what their plans are moving forward or make any further comment.”

Coyte founded Paper Riot in 2013 to take over publishing rights from Bauer Media.
