Sharon Osbourne has shared the gnarly details of the injury that landed the Prince of Darkness "stuck" in hospital and having to postpone multiple tour dates.

Speaking on American chat show The Talk, Osbourne revealed that Ozzy's ordeal started with "a little cut on his thumb" which quickly turned into a trip to the emergency room.

"He just left it and then he hit it on a door and it started to get bigger and bigger and then his middle finger, the same thing happened and his hand was probably this thick," Sharon said, indicating a gap of a dozen centimetres.

At the hospital, the pair found out that the cut on the side of Ozzy's nail "had turned into two different infections in his hand".

"He had to have this operation where they cut the side of his thumb and his finger and they had to get rid of the infection," Sharon continued.

"He's still in hospital today. It's unbelievable. He's on antibiotic drips - two different kinds - and he is just stuck there eating ice-cream."
