Fans the world over have been paying tribute to the Queen of Soul after news that she had passed away at the age of 76.

Rated by Rolling Stone as the greatest singer of all time, Aretha Louise Franklin was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on 25 March 1942 and released her first album, Songs of Faith, at the age of 14.

She signed with Columbia in 1960 but it was when she moved to Atlantic Records six years later that she had her first breakthrough hit, I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You).

Celebrities from the music world - and the wider community - have paid tribute to Franklin.
