The Killers were brought to Sydney last night by way of fabulous Las Vegas and American Express.

The intimate show was part of the launch of American Express’ Powerful Backing brand campaign which sees the company support the Australian music scene. 200 lucky winners were treated to an intimate performance at legendary venue Selina’s in Coogee Bay.

The show kicked off with Sydney local Alex Cameron and his band, who have been touring with The Killers around the world as their support band. Alex and “business partner” Roy Molloy were a perfect reminder of the kind of impressive music Australia can produce.

They also remind us to always make sure you catch the support act.

By the time The Killers came out, the crowd was more than warmed up. Frontman Brandon Flowers was engaging as ever, relishing in the small size of the venue as he made eye contact and singled out members of the excited crowd.

The set-list didn’t disappoint, kicking off with crowd-pleaser Human and moving into anthemic tracks such as Smile Like You Mean It and The Man.

A special treat came in the way of the band’s cover of Don’t Change by INXS. From the backing singers, to the perfectly timed confetti and light show, the band did not phone this one in.

The show concluded with mega–hit Mr Brightside ensuring every single person in the audience left with a huge smile on their face.
