Anyone lucky enough to score a ticket to see the one and only U2, live at the Apollo Theatre in New York, got the chance to take time out and salute the life of one of the great TV chefs and personalities, Anthony Bourdain, who sadly took his own life last week.

Reportedly, Bono said the following in the lead-up to a performance of their 2000 hit song, Stuck In A Moment:

“It’s hard to lose a friend, to lose a mate. This band has been through that and music lost some great people who gave up on their own life and that makes it kind of harder... Fashion, and now this great storyteller, who I’m sure had stories he couldn’t tell us. To Anthony Bourdain and his friends and family, this is a song inspired by a great, great, great friend of ours. His name is Michael Hutchence.”

The "fashion" reference in the quote is reportedly a reference to the recent death of Kate Spade.

Back in 2011 or so, Bono and The Edge appeared on Letterman and performed the song live, where they explained the reasoning behind the song and how Hutchence inspired them to write it.

A lasting tribute to men and women that changed the world...
