Ryan Adams, although still unknown in some circles, has a cult following, that of which packs out arenas and demands for regular radio play.

The American singer/ songwriter held nothing back during tonight’s performance at the headline making venue, Margaret Court Arena.

The stage is a fun collection of sci-fi, TV screens, wild cats and lights- as Adams described to Triple M before the tour; “a star wars inspired stage”.

With a 16 album catalogues, not even a 2 hour set can do the talent justice, but Adams and his band, The Unknown Band did not miss a beat.

Kicking the set off with the lead single from his latest offering, Prisoner, Do You Still Love Me? had the entire audience singing along from the first note.

The touching cover of Oasis’ Wonderwall was a beautiful moment, regardless of the thousands of people who filled the arena, it felt intimate and close and then the full rock star mode comes into play, with the talent shredding the guitar, with a stage filled with smoke and lights.

See the set list below:

Do You Still Love Me?, To Be Young (Is to Be Sad, Is to Be High), Gimme Something Good, Two, Dirty Rain, Outbound Train, Stay With Me, Prisoner, Magnolia Mountain, Fix It, Wonderwall (Oasis cover), Doomsday, When the Stars Go Blue, My Winding Wheel, Invisible Riverside, Let It Ride, Cold Roses, Kim, To Be Without You, Everybody Knows, Mockingbird, Peaceful Valley,New York, New York, Shakedown on 9th Street

Adams used his few words to send thanks and love to his audience, to complain of the venues 11pm curfew (which he broke) and the venues namesake, Margaret Court’s opinions shared earlier this week, encouraging the crowd to “power through and have our say” .

Ending, with only saying a few words to the crowd, purely to fit in more songs, the 2 hour set took us on a journey of love lost, love found and heartbreak all with that country, rock twang we love Adams for.

With the obvious popularity of the songs from his last offering, Prisoner next time Adams will be selling out stadiums.
