A man has died after a head-on collision between a car and a truck on the Augusta Highway in Port Wakefield this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 6am following reports of a three-vehicle crash.
The incident happened three kilometres north of the Cooper Coast Highway.
A 42-year-old man who was behind the wheel of a Mitsubishi sedan died at the scene.
A man driving a truck containing 3,000 chickens was airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious injuries.
Four men in another vehicle were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Most of the chickens died on impact, but others were euthanised by emergency crews at the scene, according to Adelaide Now.
Major Crash Investigators are currently investigating the incident.
