South Australia will soon be home to the nation's biggest battery.
That's just one aspect of a new $550 million energy plan unveiled by the State Government.
Once complete, the battery will store energy from the wind and sun and help firm up supply.
The biggest project though is a new $360 million state-owned gas power plant that'll provide emergency supplies locally.
There'll also be new powers for the Minister to order generators to be turned on when they're needed along with incentives sourcing more gas for use in South Australia.
Premier Jay Weatherill says the energy plan will create 630 jobs in construction and is already being rolled out.
The announcement comes after the entire state was plunged into darkness last September and tens of thousands were blacked out accidentally by load shedding last month.
