The Albany History Collection will relocate to Vancouver Arts Centre next week.
Formerly housed in Albany Public Library, the history collection has temporarily occupied the renovated Albany Co-operative Society building on the corner of Frederick and Spencer streets since March 2017 while the new Visitor Centre was constructed.

Due to space restraints following the visitor centre’s construction, the history collection has been unable to return to the library and a new home for the collection was found.

The Albany Regional Family History Society will join the history collection in moving to the arts centre.
Staff and collections will be unavailable for a week as the transition occurs, with the Albany History Collection closed from Friday, June 22 and reopening at Vancouver Arts Centre on Monday, July 2. Normal opening hours will then be Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm.

There will be some temporary loss of exhibition spaces at Vancouver Arts Centre due to the history collection, and the City encourages artists to consult with staff to look at alternative City of Albany exhibition spaces.
