Rangers in the City of Albany have now reopened Middelton Beach.

The beach had been closed due shark activity in the area.

Yesterday morning, the beach had been closed following the detection of a tiger shark at the Ellen Cove shark monitor.

Over the past 24 hours, one tagged tiger shark had been detected in the region over 100 times.

A Department of Fisheries boat continued to search for the shark for several hours this morning but have found no signs that the shark remains in the area.

The City of Albany has stated that is common procedure to close a whole beach for public safety if a shark is monitored in the vicinity.
