UPDATE: 8.45am.

A bush fire watch and act has been issued for people south of Down Road Nature Reserve, west of Corio Road and Rutherford Road, north of Lower Denmark Road, Broke Inlet and Lake Powell Nature Reserve and east of Mowforth Road continuing up to the Down Road Nature Reserve in Marbellup in the City of Albany.

After a wind change at 1am the fire is now burning back on itself. This means homes in Lloyd Road, Marbelup Road and Rutherwood Road north of Lloyd Road are no longer under direct threat of fires.

BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR

  • It is contained but not controlled.

  • The fire is currently stationary within the containment lines. 

ROAD CLOSURES

Marbelup Road is closed 

South Coast Highway has been closed to all vehicles (both directions) at Marbelup Road North in Marbelup.

DETOURS ARE AS FOLLOWS

Light vehicles via George Street, Lower Denmark Road, Rutherford Road, South Coast Highway.

Heavy vehicles via Denmark Mt Barker Road, Spencer Road, Albany Highway.

Firefighters are strengthening containment lines, patrolling the area and mopping up.

25 Bush Fire Service and Department of Parks and Wildlife firefighters are attending
