Approximately 10.30am today, a Cessna 210 aircraft departed Albany to travel to Bunbury.

Around 11.15am, police received reports that the plane had crashed in the Mt Lindesay area (Redmond) north of Albany after being witnessed spiralling in the sky.

A plane from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions flew over the area and located the crash site.

The RAC Rescue helicopter was used to winch a paramedic down to the crash site, where it was confirmed that the sole occupant of the plane was deceased.

The deceased pilot is believed to be a 41 year old man, and the plane was privately owned by him.

Emergency Services personnel have utilised a bulldozer to access the scene due to the dense scrubland.

A forensic examination of the scene is currently taking place.

ATSB officers will attend the crash site tomorrow to conduct an investigation.  WA Police will prepare a report on the man’s death for the Coroner.
