Great news for a former North Albany player, with Declan Mountford expected to be named in the 22 for North Melbourne.

The former product of the Great Southern Football League to line up against the West Coast Eagles on Sunday, with another former GSFL player Jeremy McGovern to be in the Eagles team.

The 20 year old was a draftee in 2015 following a strong showing at Claremont in WAFL Colts, averaging 23 possessions, 5 tackles and a goal a game.

Mountford played VFL level last year for their feeder club Werribee, where he was the only player to play every game of the season.

“Dec’s an exceptionally athletically talented player, but above everything else he’s just so coachable," VFL coach David Loader said at the end of the 2016 season.

Marley Williams will also be in the Kangaroos lineup for Round 1.

He was a late trade during the trade period last year from Collingwood and has had a solid pre-season.

The full teams will be announced at around 3:20pm WA time today.
