The opening round of the 2017/18 Albany Cricket Association season is on this weekend with some exciting news

Well established Albany business Merrifield Real Estate has signed on as a major sponsor for the new season.

Merrifield Real Estate director and local cricketer Jeremy Stewart said he looked forward to Merrifield partnering with the ACA.

“This was a great opportunity to support something that I am very passionate about in being able to give back to the game in the Great Southern,” he said.

“Cricket plays an important role in the community by developing life skills while also encouraging an active lifestyle. Merrifield support a variety of initiatives and by being involved in the ACA it is another way on contributing to the local community.”

Albany Cricket Association will move into its new home at the western end of Centennial Park sports complex with three new turf wickets and new outfields ready to use for the summer.

The ACA goes into the new season full of confidence, having won the Toyota Cup last year for the first time in three decades.

Terry Eaton from the ACA will join 783 Triple M for the upcoming season with Before The Stumps on Fridays and After Stumps on Mondays giving listeners a comprehensive wrap of local cricket.
