University Of Western Australia's Albany campus is set to expand with the State Government announcing that Western Australia's Wave Energy Centre will be house at the former Visitors Centre, originally the Albany Railway Station.

3.75 million will be put towards ensuring the centre is a hub for wave energy expertise, research and development.

The new centre is expected to attract local and international scientists to Albany, which will be a boost for our region.

Albany has been described as the perfect location to examine wave technology and it's anticipated that scientists involved will gain a deeper understanding of wave and offshore energy.

Premier Mark McGowan visited the site on Proudlove Parade and made the announcement.
