It was a touching moment at Great Southern police headquarters when two men who were rescued off Salmon Holes recently met with their rescuers.

Superintendent Domenic Wood hosted a morning tea for all those involved to help bring two Mt Barker men to safety in late April at one of the South Coast's most notorious fishing spots.

Kim, one of the men rescued spoke to Triple M and says he's recovering well after the ordeal.

Kris Mihal, who was visiting Albany from Perth and was one of the people who helped with the rescue says his first aid training paid off and he was able to put it into practice.
