1st SOLAR CARPARK

Northam’s got the right idea

Article heading image for 1st SOLAR CARPARK

This month Northam opened WAs first solar car park, it’s going to produce 40 per cent of the electricity needed by the adjoining shopping centre in town.

Almost 900 solar panels are involved in the construction and it was officially unveiled by Minister for Regional Development Alannah MacTiernan.

A $15 million shopping centre redevelopment is also in the works including the addition of 1200 solar panels to the building's roof.

How awesome is it that we’ve got an environmentally sustainable car park with more developments on the way! Were you there at the opening? Do you think we need more projects like this throughout our region? Get in contact with me via the Avon Valley and Central Wheatbelt Triple M Facebook pages :D
