Homelessness Week

Avon Youth helping out

Article heading image for Homelessness Week

This week we’ve had Ross and Bronwyn in Northam out with the Triple M Street patrol working with Avon Youth giving away all sorts of items to those in need in light of it being Homelessness week.

In the ‘World According to Quinny’ segment this week he said it best, “We’re very fortunate to have a roof over our head, not everyone has that luxury and it’s really important to remember that, especially this week!”. I had Julie on from Avon Youth who spoke of all the events they hosted this week including clothing and food drives.

Avon Youth have/are still accepting donation of food and clothing, it all gets put to good use. They had a few information sessions on the Tuesday with Holyoake who do some amazing work, talk from Silverchain and other information provided on family services and mental health. Julie also spoke about housing opportunities at the centre for those in need, of which there are a few rooms available and there is always a warm welcome. A big shout out to the team this week for the extra hard work put in Julie, Trish, Heather, Teagan, Dee, Colin and Karla.

This amazing non-government not-for-profit, community organisation was established back in 1985. Since then, it has expanded and provides a range of services to the community here in the Wheatbelt. Based in Northam and have outreach branches in Narrogin, Merredin and Moora.
