Two people have been charged in relation to the seizure of over 2.5kg of illicit drugs during a
vehicle stop near Northam on Sunday 5 August 2018.

There was an increased police presecence on the roads over the Avon Descent weekend when the discovery of the drugs was made. 

A drug detection dog indicated the presence of drugs in one of the vehicles that had been
stopped, and it will be alleged a package containing 994 grams of Methylamphetamine was
located hidden inside one of the doors.

It will be further alleged two more packages were
located concealed in the vehicle’s sub-frame, one containing over 820 grams of
Methylamphetamine and the other containing just under 700 grams of Heroin.

A 28 year old Victorian man has been charged with:
- 2 x Possess a Prohibited Drug with Intent to Sell or Supply (Methylamphetamine)
- 1 x Possess a Prohibited Drug with Intent to Sell or Supply (Heroin)

A 29 year old Victorian woman has been charged with:
- 2 x Possess a Prohibited Drug with Intent to Sell or Supply (Methylamphetamine)
- 1 x Possess a Prohibited Drug with Intent to Sell or Supply (Heroin)
- 1 x Possess Drug Paraphernalia

The man and woman were refused bail and have appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court.
They are next due to appear in the same court on Monday 17 September 2018.
