The tomato potato psyllid has been found in three regional locations outside of the Perth quarantine zone.

Tomato potato psyllid is an exotic plant pest which feeds on tomato, potato, capsicum, chilli, tamarillo, sweet potato and solanaceous weeds like nightshade, leading to loss of plant vigour and yield.

It was found in Australia for the first time in early February in a Perth veggie crop.

Extensive monitoring and inspections by DAFWA revealed the sap sucking insect was in a number of locations including three commercial horticulture properties in Gingin, Yarloop and Busselton.

DAFWA has acted promptly since the outbreak.

A decision whether to eradicate or manage the pest still being made.
