Northam Women in Business began in 2015 and is a fantastic group that gets together on a monthly business to support one another in the business world and also have guest speakers on occasion. The group also is in close affiliation with the Chamber of Commerce and work closely in bringing about the amazing Northam Farmers Markets that we get to enjoy.
Their Mission Statement:
-Founded on the desire to share thoughts, concerns, advice and trends.
-To be a network of support to other women in the business community, while trying to unite with the common goal of growing the success of our businesses.
-Recognising that women in business in Northam, have their own unique set of challenges and identifying these and ways to overcome them.
Dr.Stephanie Spencer is one committee member that I was able to have a chat with that told me of this fantastic opportunity for a young woman who either lives in Northam or who has in the past 10 years. A $5000 scholarship is being afforded to one young lucky recipient between the ages of 17-25 who will put the funds towards a business endeavor in their future. Applications are open until August at www.northamwib.com.au.
How great is it that we have women who are already well established within business and willing to put time and effort into supporting young women in the community. Do you know some young women who would benefit from such a scholarship? Make sure they apply! And if you yourself are woman currently working or who has worked in business throughout the Central Wheatbelt and Avon Valley and feel you have some advice/thoughts/ideas to pass on or even just a tiny bit of time to spare, you might consider joining Northam Women in Business J
