The state government’s announced 27 million dollars to be spent upgrading roads in Central Victoria as part of next week’s budget announcement.

A total of 941 million will be spent across the state with 19 to go towards upgrading the Calder Highway between Bendigo and Mildura while the Midland Highway will be upgraded at Castlemaine.

3.5 million is going towards improving safety on Bendigo-Redesdale Road while the McIvor Highway at Junortoun will be upgraded with 3.5 million dollars to cater for increased traffic.

The Central Goldfields Shire is set to formally object to the proposed re positioning of Maryborough into the federal seat of Mallee as part of a electoral boundary reshuffle.

The administrators had been campaigning to have the town returned to the Bendigo electorate after it was moved to Wannon in 2008.

In a meeting this week, the administrators vowed to write to the Australain Electoral Commission by next week objecting to the move because of reasons such as a lack of community of interest’.

Work on stage 2 of the South West Loddon pipeline has begun this week to deliver water to communities in the Loddon Shire.

The first sod has been turned just north of Inglewood with the next stage of the 1300 kilometres pipeline to be installed to provide Bridgewater, Arnold, Kurting and Wedderburn South with water.

The 80.6 million dollar project is being funded by the state and federal governments, along with contributuons from Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water.

There's been a 30 per cent increase in the number of complaints made to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman about issues pertaining to mobile phone and internet services.

A total of 23,954 were received in the 6 months to the end of 2017 of the nearly 85 thousand which were made across the country to the free and independent regulator.
