The Southern Australian Seasonal Bushfire Outlook has been released by the Bushfire and Natural Hazards Cooperative Research Centre with Bureau of Meteorology and is highlighting an earlier start to the season.

Central Victoria is expected to have a normal fire season at this stage depending on how much rain is received in the lead-up to summer, given Bendigo has only received 232 mils of rain - 158 short of the average as of September 7th.

Currently, the bureau of meteorology is forecasting less rain than usual and warmer than average conditions with the outlook to be updated again in November.

It's seen Forest Fire Management Victoria call on their seasonal firefighters and the CFA bring preparedness works forward by a month each to begin prevention works.

Emergency Management Commissioner Andrew Crisp says “Pre-season briefings for emergency management personnel will begin to roll-out across Victoria so our people understand the predicted outlook, know the risks and are prepared to respond to emergencies, working with communities.”
