The City of Greater Bendigo has confirmed incumbent CEO Craig Niemann will be reappointed next week by the council for the next 5 years.
It follows a 4 month public recruitment process costing 50 thousand dollars which saw the council interviewing around 50 candidates from local and abroad.
It will be Niemann’s third straight term in the position after he was appointed back in 2007 after joining the shire office in 2005.
He will be officially sworn at the council meeting on Wednesday December 13 at the Bendigo Town Hall.
Niemann has overseen major infrastructure projects in the City like the Bendigo library and Bendigo tennis centre redevelopment and construction of the new Bendigo airport runway.
He says he never considered leaving the position;
“I had a long hard think about why, and why wouldn’t I want to go somewhere else,” he said.
“I kept coming back to: I love this place, I love the people, I love what we do and the people we work with, I love the organisation.
“I still think I can add a lot of value to the council.”
