A Crane Has Collapsed In Newstead, Crushing Car

A crane has collapsed in the inner-city suburb of Newstead, crushing a car in its path.

Video footage appears to show the crane landing on two cars, and through powerlines.

The incident took place at the Mercedes Benz development site on Ross St.

Powerlines were brought down causing almost 500 homes and businesses to be without power, according to Energex.

Customers in Albion and Zillmere are still experiencing loss of power.

Witnesses were reporting pedestrians who jumped out of the path of the crane were 'lucky to be alive'.

Luckily, no injuries have been reported. The crane driver was assessed on the scene.
