BREAKING: Logan siege over

UPDATE: A man who held police at bay during an eight-hour siege at Logan has surrendered peacefully.

The man was holed up inside a unit in Nyanza Street, Woodridge, triggering an emergency declaration about 9.30am Monday.

Hours later, a woman emerged from the unit after unsuccessfully trying to coax him out.

Nine News reporter Nat Wallace said the man gave himself up shortly before 3pm, and was wanted on a number of arrest warrants.

"He was checked over by paramedics before being put in the back of a police truck and driven to Beenleigh Police Station," he said.

EARLIER: Police have declared an emergency situation following an incident in Woodridge.

Around 8.30am police attended a unit complex on Nyanza Street following reports of a disturbance.

The declaration was made around 9.30am after the man, who is possibly armed, refused to leave the building.

An exclusion zone (pictured below) has been established on Nyanza Street, bounded by Mikaga Court and Strathdarr Street to Kurrajong Street and Nydia Street, Woodridge.

Police remain on the scene as negotiators attempt to speak to the man.
