Family Amazingly Escape Firebomb Attack At Mackenzie Home Nine News

Police say it's a miracle that a family managed to survive a firebombing attack at their Mackenzie home.

The property on Bottichelli Place was badly damaged when a group of people smashed through the front windows and poured accelerant into a kids toy room, before setting it alight just after 10pm on Wednesday.

A woman, who is heavily pregnant, and two kids escaped uninjured but were taken to hospital as a precaution, while a man suffered serious burns as he tried to douse the flames.

"There is certainly evidence at the scene to indicate it was deliberately done and certainly with some motivation to cause maximum damage," said Inspector Steve Flori.

"The family is extremely lucky to be alive. We're very conscious of the seriousness of what has happened and that is why we're very keen to gain information to track down who has done this."

The only description of the group is that they were possibly men, and left the scene in a dark coloured car.
