Paramedics have treated a school student on the Sunshine Coast who received a nasty snake bite close to his school.

The Chancellor State College student reported the incident around 9:10am this morning, before being transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, where he’s reportedly in a stable condition, Nine News reports.

"The student's parents were immediately notified and the child treated by paramedics on site before being taken to hospital," a Queensland Department of Education and Training spokesperson said.

"Schools are constantly enforcing the message of snake safety to students and also have trained first aid personnel on staff in the event of an incident.”

The parents of the student have requested the student’s name not be released.

While a snake catcher has cleared the school grounds of additional reptiles, Chancellor State College has urged students to be mindful if “further snakes are sighted."
