Queenslanders Asked To Keep An Eye On Aircon Use To Prevent Blackouts

Queensland households and workplaces could be asked to set their air conditioners to 26 degrees to prevent blackouts during periods of extreme heat this summer.

The Palaszczuk government's energy security task force has drawn up a Summer Preparedness Plan to deal with high demand for power during heatwaves.

Under the plan, residents and businesses could be asked to set their air conditioners at 26 degrees on some of the hottest days of the year and to use cooling only in occupied rooms and to turn off non-essential lighting and pool pumps.
