The future king and his missus are here! Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall touch down in Brisbane today for a public tour, ahead of tonight's Commonwealth Games opening ceremony on the Gold Coast.

The couple will arrive at Old Government House, QUT at 12:50pm for an official ceremonial welcome to Australia, it'll include an inspection of the guard and 21-gun salute at Kangaroo Point.

The public are then invited to meet the royals during a walk through the City Botanic Gardens from 1:15pm, it will begin at the Gardens Theatre end.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is hoping thousands of locals will turn out to catch a glimpse of the pair.

"If you work in the city, I can't think of a better way to spend a lunch break than strolling to down to our beautiful City Botanic Gardens and meeting Their Royal Highnesses," she said.
