After close to 30 years as official partners with the Queensland Rugby Union, Triple M Brisbane will continue to support grass-roots rugby union with the "Triple M Hospital Challenge Cup Match of the Round" for the rest of the 2018 season.
The Match of the Round, which will be replayed every Wednesday evening on Fox Sports, originated in 1899 as the Hospital Football Challenge, a fundraising venture for the Brisbane Hospital.
Today, the Cup remains the most desirable silverware in Queensland Club Rugby and is something that Triple M Brisbane's Executive General Manager Damon Rielly is "very proud" to support.
"Triple M is a big supporter of rugby union in Australia at all levels," he said. "We are the longest standing corporate partner with the Queensland Rugby Union spanning almost 30 years, we support the Wallabies whenever they come to Brisbane and we are also the major sponsor of Norths Rugby Union Club.
"I'm very proud that Triple M will be the major sponsor of the now Foxtel-televised, Triple M Match of the Round. Club rugby is flourishing - and we want to help further the growth at a grass-roots level."
The first "Triple M Hospital Challenge Cup of the Round" takes place this Saturday at Chipsy Wood Oval, with Quade Cooper's Souths taking on GPS in a crucial round 16 clash.
